Our willow coffins

All our coffins are rounded at both ends. Unlike many other willow coffin suppliers both from within and outside of the UK, who use plywood in their bases, we use Welsh-grown Douglas fir (from a trusted source) as a much more environmentally sustainable option. We use whatever bits of locally sourced hardwood (oak/walnut/ash/sycamore/field maple - depending on availability) we have in stock for the centrepiece on the lid, and all our coffins come fully lined with unbleached calico. Each coffin is made with sisal rope handles and the the lid is secured with cotton cord ties and handcarved hazel toggles, made from wood from our own hazelnut orchard. They also come with an unbleached calico mattress and pillow filled with organic hay, cut from our farm here in Warwickshire.

Please look through the below images for different willow (wicker) colour options on our coffins. We are also very happy to make a customised coffin with your desired combinations, so please do get in touch to discuss your preferences.

We believe strongly in strengthening connections with the natural world, and as of the start of 2025 our whole farm is now a rewilding project. When we’re not making coffins, we are tending to the land here with the intention of creating a welcoming place where all life can thrive. As a way of honouring the other more-than-human-creatures we are blessed to share this land with, our coffins are named after some of the wild animals we regularly come into contact with here.

Ordering and Delivery

If we have your desired coffin in stock, we can arrange for delivery as soon as possible. You are also welcome to come and collect any of our products yourself direct from our workshop. See below for delivery prices.

If we are custom-making your coffin, and depending on the design, we might need up to 14 days for delivery, in order to have enough time to soak and weave the willow. Please contact us to discuss what is possible.

Pricing

Prices vary a little depending on the size of your coffin, so please get in touch for a discussion about your requirements and for a specific quote.

All our coffins include an unbleached calico liner, mattress and pillow as standard, and biodegradable plastic if required.** They also come with a calico mattress and pillow filled with hay, cut from our organic farm.

Adult coffin (standard sizes): £780***

Child coffin: Please get in touch for further details

Wooden nameplate: £45 - All cemeteries and all crematoriums in the UK require you to have a nameplate, which needs to contain at least the legal name of the person who has died. You are very welcome to add more information if you like, and Natural Burial Grounds are often more flexible with what wording you choose. We use various woods - mostly Ash and Oak - to craft our nameplates, and employ a local company to laser engrave the wording on to them for us. Please speak to us to find out more about how we can organise this on your behalf.

Delivery: We can deliver for free within a 10 mile radius, otherwise cost is dependent on distance (as far as possible, we like to deliver our coffins ourselves). You are also very welcome to come and collect from us.

*FFMA stands for the Funeral Furnishing Manufacturers’ Association (see FAQ for more information)

**in the vast majority of cases, plastic liners are not necessary, and I prefer not to use them if I can

***Price will vary if coffin is below or above standard sizes (e.g. a child’s coffin or over 6’2” in length). Please enquire for further details
